Home to one of the largest Jewish populations in Spain, Toledo offers an inside look at the important legacy the Jews left before their expulsion from Spain in 1492.  Join us on our Toledo Jewish Tour in this rare opportunity with our local guide trained in Jewish History to trace the long lineage of traditions, customs, influential people, and religion in this magical city regarded as one of the most important in preserving the jewels of the Sephardic memory and legacy.  While our tour is focused on the Sephardic history and customs, Toledo´s history is vast and all of our guides are trained to speak on an array of monuments, architecture and crafts.  We encourage you to enjoy all of the tradition and culture.

          Meet your guide next to Samuel Ha-Levi´s statue, next to Transito Synagogue in the Jewish quarter.
          We recommend you take the train at 9:20am from Atocha Station in Madrid. You should buy your tickets ahead of time at any travel agency in the street or buy them from us.  Arrival to Toledo is 09:55.  You have the option of meeting your guide at the Train station to catch a cab and do a panoramic to see the viewpoints or you can meet in the Jewish Qt. at the statue of Samuel Levi at 10:45.

          This is a summarized itinerary. Some places may be added based on time, plus we like to keep some surprise element to our tours.This can happen on the spot or you can send us preferences. We would need to know in advance. Ie: If you are interested in buying some marzipan.

          If your hotel is nearby and you prefer to be picked up, let us know when you book the tour. Note that the Transito Synagogue is closed on Mondays.

          *Weekend or holidays: This tour carries a surcharge of $40 on Weekends or Spanish holidays as the local guides charge more at this time. 

          Optional for this tour:
          We can combine this tour with a visit to a nearby winery or Olive Grove. Inquire if you are interested in making this a full day combined with La Mancha region.

          For those who would like to learn more about Jewish Sephardic Heritage, Toledo represents a city with some of the most important examples of Jewish past that existed centuries ago. Our guided tour will take you back in time when Jewish life flourished and bustled in Toledo. With a background in Sephardic studies, your expert guide will unravel the story through explanation on some of the most important monuments, facts and dates on Jews who lived in this magical city. Bring your notepad as we will cover a lot of information leading you back to medieval times. We will stroll the Jewish Quarter and neighborhoods and even streets where many Jews had shops. We will talk about some prominent members of society, including physicians, rabbis, philosophers and poets, where they lived and the influence they had on Jewish Society as well as how they conducted their daily life with the Christians and Muslims living at that time. We will explore two of the most important synagogues one of which includes the wonderful Sephardic Museum. Finally, we will talk about the expulsion of the Jews, the beginning of the turmoil to the end and discuss where most of the Jews fled after they were expelled.

          Letango´s all inclusive trips that are pre-designed with a preset itinerary. They generally include accommodation, guided tours, transportation within Spain, entrance fees to monuments visited in the guided tours provided, a show, etc. They also come with our personal advice and recommendations. We are happy to have a consultation. We personally call all hotels before you check in to ensure they give you a nice room and are ready for you.

          Day tours typically last between 3 and 9 hours depending on how much time you choose. They include a guide, sometimes entrances and are pre-designed with a set itinerary.  These are walking tours but we can arrange bikes or segway.

          Usually include the service of a private driver-guide or driver and guide. They include meals, wine tastings and sometimes entrance fees depending on the tour. All are pre-designed with a preset itinerary.

          To book any of our tours, pick the size of your private group, the number of people traveling and add to cart. If you prefer not to make a full payment right away, you can opt to pay later.


          In this case, we will send you an invoice for 50% deposit and then as we get closer to your service date, you will pay the balance in full. This is very typical when the tour or trip is not going to happen for a while.

          If for any reason we can not fulfil the tour for the date you have chosen we will refund you immediately and let you know. A tour is not fully confirmed until we reply with a full confirmation.
