If wine is your passion or you simply enjoy tasting and learning about the science of it, this Ribera, Rioja & Cava Wine 10 day tour is sure to make for an unforgettable experience.  From the grapes, the preservation, the soil, to the modern and ancient methods used to produce this Iberian glass of wonder, you will be exposed to some of the world´s top selling spirits pared with gourmet delicacies of local cuisine depending on the region.  Covering over 4 major wine producing regions, this itinerary will expose you to the best that northern Spain has to offer and you will never taste wine the same again.  As part of the culture and the customs from centuries ago, wine is an integral part of the way of life and is celebrated and appreciated from a very young age.  Your journey will cover Castille La Mancha, Castille Leon, La Rioja and finally Catalonia. Itinerary 

Day 1 Madrid Intro. Sleep in Madrid
Today your friendly driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Madrid. You can check in and get settled before meeting your local guide for a 3 hour visit to introduce Madrid´s history and people. We will make a wonderful reservation for you where you can begin your experience with Spanish wines.

Day 2 Madrid day trip to Toledo and winery near Madrid. Sleep in Madrid.
This morning, your private chauffer will pick you up and drive to Toledo where you will meet your local guide. Starting with a panoramic of the viewpoints, you will get the full perception of the city.  You will then walk the narrow, winding streets while taking in the history, architecture and customs of the locals, you will feel like you are stepping back into time. Top off the experience with an interesting visit to one of our favorite wineries, in the region of Castille La Mancha.

Day 3 Wine tasting intro. Sleep in Madrid.
Today you will examine the more modern approach to wine making with a private family that has been producing fabulous wines for generations. Their knowledge and expertise will prepare you for the small details you will want to look for when tasting wines.

Day 4 Day trip to Ribera Duero wine country. Sleep in Logroño.
Depart from Madrid and head north to Ribera del Duero, a region known for its drastic climate from cold to warm that produces the excellent tempranillo grape. Your adventure will take you to the famous caves of this region where wines are aged and stored in a preserved climate as well as some first class wineries that are doing innovative approach to producing wine. You will also enjoy the unique architecture of this area and a medieval Plaza Mayor. After visiting Ribera del Duero, continue on to the sophisticated capital of wine, Logroño. You will have  an opportunity to experience the amazing pintxo and tapa scene of this stylish, artsy town in calle Laurel.

Day 5 Day trip to see Rioja wine country stopping to see some new, stylish, avantgarde wineries like Marques de Riscal by Frank Gehry and Ysios by Calatrava as well as other smaller family owned wineries. Visit Laguardia medieval hill town famous as one of the capitals of wine with tremendous history and architecture. Following this visit you will be driven on to Logroño to our lovely hotel. Sleep in Logroño.

Day 6 Today, you will take an excursion to San Sebastian. Starting with a climb to the top of Monte igueldo, take in the spectacular views of this magical city. As the summer getaway of the aristocrats, the boardwalk is a must along with a stroll in the old part of town bustling with energy and fabulous tapa bars.  You will learn about this culture and even step into one or two of the most popular to try a famous and unique pintxo. In the afternoon, you will be driven through the green rolling hills of the basque countryside to your hotel. Sleep near Guernika.

Day 7 This morning, after breakfast, you will take a day trip to visit a winery of Txakoli, the Basque sparkling white wine. To make your visit complete, you will enjoy the picturesque fishing villages before returning to our hotel. Sleep near Guernika.

Day 8 Today you will depart the Basque country and fly to Barcelona. Meet up with our guide in the lobby and go to explore the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas and La Boqueria. Dinner is on your own with some suggestions for the many gourmet restaurants to choose from. Sleep in Barcelona.

Day 9 Today, taste both history and culture starting in the famous Catalan Monastery, Montserrat located in the amazing mountains outside of Barcelona where you will stop and take photos. Visit this holy place that is sacred to the Catalans, including important relics in the museum as well as the very charming boy's choir who will sing for the public during your visit. Take in the magnificent views and contemplate how something so brilliant can be built so high up into the rock. Continue on into Cava country with a visit to a famous Bodega and you will learn how the Cava is made and what makes this Spanish champagne so special. Sleep in Barcelona.

Day 10 Check out. Private transfer to the airport.

Letango´s all inclusive trips that are pre-designed with a preset itinerary. They generally include accommodation, guided tours, transportation within Spain, entrance fees to monuments visited in the guided tours provided, a show, etc. They also come with our personal advice and recommendations. We are happy to have a consultation. We personally call all hotels before you check in to ensure they give you a nice room and are ready for you.

Day tours typically last between 3 and 9 hours depending on how much time you choose. They include a guide, sometimes entrances and are pre-designed with a set itinerary.  These are walking tours but we can arrange bikes or segway.

Letango has put a lot of effort into designing a great number of tours for you to enjoy the culture of Spain and Portugal.

To book any of our tours, pick the size of your private group, the number of people traveling and add to cart. If you prefer not to make a full payment right away, you can opt to pay later.


In this case, we will send you an invoice for 50% deposit and then as we get closer to your service date, you will pay the balance in full. This is very typical when the tour or trip is not going to happen for a while.

If for any reason we can not fulfil the tour for the date you have chosen we will refund you immediately and let you know. A tour is not fully confirmed until we reply with a full confirmation.
