Description

Take a fully guided adventure to the la Mancha region with our Don Quixote Tour. Have you ever fantasized of following in the steps of Don Quixote along his monumental journey with Sancho Panza to fight monsters in the form of Windmills? During this one day escape, we will visit an amazing Monastery of the region, the headquarters of Saint James´ Knights, the military order Cervantes belonged to, a typical and delicious cheese maker, Don Quixote windmills and a medieval castle, astonishingly, well preserved.

Throughout the day, we will be discussing the theme of Don Quixote, the time period, the way people thought during those 16th century times, their practices and Miguel Cervantes role in shaping and influencing a society with his political satire that mocked the ruling government of Spain. In one day you get the full picture and we will also discuss the Don Quixote knights that Cervantes expands on. Our knowledgeable driver/guide will pick you up in Madrid in a comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle and will return you at the end of the day.

This is a summarized itinerary. Some places may be added based on time, plus we like to keep some surprise element to our tours.

As this is a private tour, we are happy to have our driver/guide customize it to a degree. This can happen on the spot or you can send us preferences. We would need to know in advance. Ie: If you are an avid guitar player and would like to see where guitars are made.

The order of Santiago or Saint James is one of the that important knights who fought the Moors and Cervantes made fun of this in his book, Don Quixote. That justifies going to see this amazing monastery of Ucles that has so much history.

La Mancha, or the dry land is the area described in most of the book as it is the place where Don Quixote and Sancho lived.

The history of Castilla La Mancha is vast. It´s origins, start during the rule of the Moors from the 8th to the 14th centuries and the name La Mancha was actually given by the former rulers describing the arid land or dry land that made up the region.

Famed as the region used in Miguel Cervantes book, Don Quixote, we will follow the route and discover some of the gems that make it so unique including the rich soil and climate that produces some of the best wine and olive oil in the country.

Private Vacation Packages
Letango´s all inclusive trips that are pre-designed with a preset itinerary. They generally include accommodation, guided tours, transportation within Spain, entrance fees to monuments visited in the guided tours provided, a show, etc. They also come with our personal advice and recommendations. We are happy to have a consultation. We personally call all hotels before you check in to ensure they give you a nice room and are ready for you.

Private Day tours and activities
Day tours typically last between 3 and 9 hours depending on how much time you choose. They include a guide, sometimes entrances and are pre-designed with a set itinerary. These are walking tours but we can arrange bikes or segway.

Private Day trips
Usually include the service of a private driver-guide or driver and guide. They include meals, wine tastings and sometimes entrance fees depending on the tour. All are pre-designed with a preset itinerary.

Letango has put a lot of effort into designing a great number of tours for you to enjoy the culture of Spain and Portugal.

To book any of our tours, pick the size of your private group, the number of people traveling and add to cart. If you prefer not to make a full payment right away, you can opt to pay later.

In this case, we will send you an invoice for 50% deposit and then as we get closer to your service date, you will pay the balance in full. This is very typical when the tour or trip is not going to happen for a while.

Once we receive your order we will get in contact with you.
Remember you can make changes by contacting us.

If for any reason we can not fulfil the tour for the date you have chosen we will refund you immediately and let you know. A tour is not fully confirmed until we reply with a full confirmation.
