Days 1-4: Madrid (3 nights)
Welcome to this fabulous city. Today is an easy day so you can check in, get aquainted, relax and rest. We'll meet with you in the afternoon to go over your itinerary, then give you an orientation walk and tapas tour, including plenty of recommendations on how to ease into the city and Spanish culture. On the second day, you'll hop on the train for a guided tour of Toledo, covering the city's vast history as well as seeing the highlights of resident painter El Greco. Your third morning is free for you to explore the great art collections of the Prado Museum and Royal Palace on your own, and in the afternoon you'll have a relaxing private spa session and a romantic dinner. OPTIONAL: Guided tour of the Prado and palace

On day four, you'll catch the new, high-speed AVE train to Barcelona in the morning, then have a guided tour of the Gothic quarter in the afternoon. This will give you a general overview of the city so you can tour monuments on your own in the following days. The famous markets, the Ramblas and Gaudà architecture are some of the highlights in this popular European destination. On your second night, you'll learn how to cook paella in a hands-on cooking class--and feast on the results! For your third day, options include Montjuic, Sitges beach or an optional day trip out. OPTIONAL: Twilight driving tour of illuminated Barcelona, followed by a guided tapa hop. |  |
